FAQ

In this FAQ, we aim to cover some of the typical questions (often technical) asked by our customers and their procurement departments. We hope that you find these answers helpful.

  • Why choose CAFS?

CAFS has a number of advanatages over other systems:

    1. It is student led which can help to reduce the workload on busy teachers.
    2. It gives accurate and real time data on student development.
    3. It gathers all information in one place.
    4. It is online, so students and staff can work from home as well as on placement.
    5. It allows the school to demonstrate justified decision making and meet regulatory obligations.
    6. It reduces the staff time a cost involved in producing reports.
  • Can I have a demonstration?

Yes. We like to give a guided demostration first, as the CAFS environment is sophisticated and sometimes complex. Once you have been introduced to the software, we can provide you with some logins to our demonstration instance, and we can even provide you with a dedicated demonstration instance for your school to trial for a short period of time. You can request a demonstration here.

  • What devices are supported by CAFS?

CAFS can be run on any device with a modern web browser. CAFS can be run on:

    • Apple iOS (iPads and iPhones)
    • Google Android (Tablets and Smartphones)
    • Microsoft Windows (any laptop or desktop with a modern browser)
    • Apple OS-X (MacBook, iMac, etc)
    • Linux Devices (with a modern browser)
  • De we need to buy new equipment / server(s)?

No. CAFS is a hosted SAAS (software as a service) product. Provided you have a modern computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection, you will be able to access the software from that device without installing anything or purchasing any new equipment.

  • Do you have an SLA (Service Level Agreement)?

Yes. See our service agreement for our Availability, Mantainance and Support SLAs

  • Who owns the data we put into CAFS?

You have full ownership of the data you enter into CAFS. You can request a complete machine readable extract of your data at any time, and we will destroy all data we hold upon request, or after termination of our services to you.

  • How do you secure our data?

We take information security very seriously, and full portfolio of our security policies can be provided upon request. Each CAFS instance is installed in its own cloud virtual server or dedicated server, and there are no shared databases or database servers. Adminstrative access to your servers in strictly controlled. HIPAA compliant instances are available.

  • What is your backup policy?

Our standard backup policy is daily whole server snapshotting with a 14 day retention policy. Secondary "disaster recovery" copies of the backups are duplicated to a datacentre in another location, and are also retained for 14 days.

  • Where is my data hosted?

We can locate your server in whatever location you specify. For European CAFS installations, we usually install your server in either Republic of Ireland or Germany. We also have locations available in Singapore, USA, and elsewhere worldwide.

  • Do you have a business continuity strategy?

Yes. Our SLAs provide our target delivery times for rectifying service interruptions, and our internal business continuity strategy policy documents are available to view upon request.

  • Can you assure compliance with GDPR, HIPAA and other information security obligations?

Yes. We take these obligations very seriously, and we structure our services to provide maximum assurance possible on these valuable criteria. Your data retention policies can be aligned with the applicable GDPR obligations, and for EU customers we can cite your entire service within the EEA, including contracting from our Dublin office.
